Caravan has been dyed to a rich array of classic colors. Targhee is a newer sheep bred in the United States starting in 1926. They are a cross between Rambouillet, Columbia and Corriedale, resulting in a sheep that has a long staple wool, that makes for a fine quality yarn. The silk with the superwash targhee creates a fabric that will hold it's shape but still have that sheen and slight drape that silk is known for. These skeins are perfect for sweaters, scarves, hats, and shawls. - 80% Superwash Targhee Wool / 20% Silk Worsted Weight 263 grams / 9.3 ounces 475 meters / 520 yards

A note on the weight and yardage of this product: Our vendor was very generous on measuring these skeins out. Unfortunately, they are not consistent. The weight and yardage given here and on the label is the LOW estimate, so you will get AT LEAST what we list. If your skein is slightly heavier (as much as a whole ounce), you get more yarn that what you paid for. What a deal! If you would like to estimate your yardage after purchase, weigh your skein with a postage scale (minus the tag). The yardage should be about 55.8 yards per ounce. Thank you. ~Houndstooth Fiber Arts
